When the counter hits eighty-five percent of your baseline and the velocity drops to one submission every two seconds, close the question immediately regardless of the remaining time on the clock. Waiting fifteen extra seconds to capture the final three percent of late responders kills the energy of the remaining ninety-seven percent of the room.
